Are you wondering how to assess your soil health and improve your soil nutrient management? Join B.C. Ministry of Agriculture and Food and get your hands dirty learning how to sample, evaluate and monitor soil health on your farm and improve your soil moisture management. The Ministry of Agriculture and food is organizing a soil road show near you!
What to expect during the field day?
This field event will support farmers to:
- Understand the need for soil sampling in their nutrient management program to optimize fertilizer use efficiency.
- Know where, how and when to correctly collect soil samples in field.
- Familiarize with a selection of soil indicators that provide information about soil health.
- Assess and monitor their farm soil health to identify where improvements are needed.
- How to use various soil moisture sensors to monitor their soil moisture level and meet crop moisture needs.
- Understand strengths and limitations of various soil moisture sensors.
- Refreshments will be provided.
