Jourdyn Sammons

Perennial and annual forages are both critical sources of feed for cow-calf operations. Beef producers need nutritious feed options that provide adequate yield and are economically feasible. Few multiyear studies compare annual and  perennial legumes under grazing conditions and the potential environmental benefits they may provide. This study evaluated two years (2022 and 2023) of perennial and annual forage blends under grazing, and their impacts on forage quality and biomass and animal production, and also greenhouse gas emissions, soil microbiology and soil dynamics.

Rob Wunder

Rob Wunder is a fourth-generation farmer and rancher on his family farm south of Foam Lake, SK. The farm is operated by Rob and his brother Bryce, and their wives, parents and kids all contribute significantly to the farm;s success. The farm produces small grains and a cow-calf herd. Pigs, laying hens, broilers and turkeys are also raised for the Wunder family’s own consumption. While some of the farm is managed organically, the rest is operated regeneratively. To promote a sustainable system, the livestock are integrated onto as many acres as possible and AMP (Adaptive Multi-Paddock) grazing practices have been used for years - stock densities ranging from low to over two million pounds of live weight per acre.

Daily admission is $25/ adult but contact Adrienne Hanson at 306-421-8538/[email protected] for free tickets to AIM!
